Warriors And Brides

Have you ever had those moments where you KNOW that God is speaking right to your soul, exactly when you needed to hear His voice the most? I had one of those moments yesterday. My good friend and I just finished up a Bible study by Beth Moore called, “Breaking Free.” I have done this study before, but it was such a refreshing reminder of God’s living and active Word, and it was so good to relearn the principles at this particular time in my life.

One particular concept I learned from Beth on the last video yesterday really hit me. I know the timing was not a coincidence and I felt very loved and seen by my Father.

I have been struggling lately in my thought processes, feeling defeated and discouraged by some chronic hard circumstances in my life. Of course my enemy takes full advantage of my discouraged line of thinking and so I have felt attacked lately. Have you ever noticed Satan usually attacks right after a period of intense spiritual growth? He doesn’t want us to continue living in victory.

My mind has been renewed over the last couple of years, but I continue to struggle daily with remembering what I have learned. It is a slow, tedious process at times. In the study Beth said, “Our minds are not renewed in an instant. But we must fight. Satan is a defeated foe.”

Fight. We must fight. Satan has already lost and he's furious. He wants us to forget we have already won. He wants us to lose sight of Who we belong to.

I am a warrior. I must not give up, but stay focused on Jesus, who has already defeated Satan and sin.

We know in our heads that Jesus wins, but are we actually living as if we really believe that?

So how do we fight?

With a double-edged sword.

May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands. – Psalm 149:6 – This is one of my favorite verses.

Continue to pray for the renewing of my mind (2 Corinthians 10:3-5). This is a process and it is hard. But God gives us “divine power to demolish strongholds.”

Ladies, we must put our armor on every day (read Ephesians 6:10-18). Stay in the Word of God. Do what it says. It our defense and our Sword.

So we are warriors. But we are also brides…I love this!

Brides are beautiful and full of life and passion and courage and joy. “We aren’t just wives, we are brides of Jesus Christ.” – Beth Moore

Yes, we are at war, but in Jesus we can be beautiful while we are fighting. We are warriors AND we are brides of Christ.

I love that I can be at war and wear a dress!

Do you believe you are beautiful?

I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. – Isaiah 61:10

We are strong because of God’s Word and we are beautiful because of Jesus’ adorning us with “ robes of righteousness.”

“We may have to wrestle our crowns from our enemy, but then we will have the muscle built up to hang onto it.” – Beth Moore

God has put these truths so strongly on my heart today (as a reminder to me and to you)…

Remember Who is on your side.
The enemy is already defeated. Live as someone who is victorious, not defeated.
Don’t let the enemy feed you lies about who and Whose you are.
Fight for your families and for your relationships.
Do not let fear put you in bondage and hold you captive to lies.
God loves us and is for us.
Because of Jesus, we are beautiful and we are free and we are warriors.

Get up and prepare for war! We are in a battle for our lives, our marriages, our children, our ministries, and for this broken world.

I’m so thankful we serve a God who knows our hearts so well. He knows we long to be both strong and beautiful women of God. And that is what we can be because of Jesus.

Warrior Brides.

Thank you Beth Moore for your encouragement to me and to us.

Thank you Father for the way that you love us and remind our hearts that we already have the victory in You. Give us courage to stand up and fight for what is important in this life and our eternal life to come. Thank you for the way you equip us and adorn us for battle. Amen.
