Out of Hiding

My dear friend Emily shared a song in our small group recently that rocked us all. I wasn’t even there that night because I had a sick toddler. The girls sent me the link to the song later that night. As I listened to it, I sank to the floor and bawled. I cannot think a more perfect song that sums up what I wrestle with, and what I believe many of you wrestle with. It is full of such powerful truth about our Father who loves us so much. I felt such a strong conviction to share this song with you and I’m praying it will speak to your hearts the truth that God intended.

(1) Out of Hiding Father's Song
Official Lyric Video by Steffany Gretzinger and Amanda Cook
Bethel Music

Song Lyrics:

Come out of hiding
You're safe here with Me
There's no need to cover
What I already see

You've got your reasons
But I hold your peace
You've been on lockdown
And I hold the key

'Cause I loved you before you knew it was love
And I saw it all, still I chose the cross
And you were the one that I was thinking of
When I rose from the grave

Now rid of the shackles, My victory's yours
I tore the veil for you to come close
There's no reason to stand at a distance anymore
You're not far from home

I'll be your lighthouse
When you're lost at sea
And I will illuminate
Everything

No need to be frightened
By intimacy
No, just throw off your fear
And come running to Me

'Cause I loved you before you knew it was love
And I saw it all, still I chose the cross
And you were the one that I was thinking of
When I rose from the grave

Now rid of the shackles, My victory's yours
I tore the veil for you to come close
There's no reason to stand at a distance anymore
You're not far from home

Keep on coming
And oh as you run
What hindered love
Will only become

Part of the story
Baby, you're almost home now
Please don't quit now
You're almost home to Me(1)

I am so grateful for where God has brought me from. I have no response other than worship. He knows our hearts so well, and He loves us still.

Truth:

Our hearts are safe with our Father. We don’t need to withdraw and isolate from the One who already sees it all.

He is the key to freedom. Because we are His children, His victory is our victory.

He loved us before we knew what love was. He chose us first and He chose the cross for us.

He is our Lighthouse. He illuminates everything. I love that.

We can face our fear and throw it off with His help. We don’t have to me afraid of intimacy.

All of the things that kept us from loving the way we were made to love will only become part of our story after He heals our hearts.

You can close the distance and come out of hiding. He is our safety and shield.

Don’t quit, keep on running. We are almost home now.

I know that someone needed to hear this today. I am praying for you.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith.  – Hebrews 12:1-2

Thank you, Father, that we can come out of hiding and be completely safe with You. Give us courage to be all that you created us to be and to finish strong. Don’t let us quit when quitting seems so much easier. Amen.

If you are an imperfect wife, mom, daughter, or friend, struggling to stay focused on God in the craziness and find joy in the heartache, then we have something in common. I am a recovering perfectionist and daughter of the King, slowly learning to fully trust the One who sees me just as I am, and is already pleased. I’m so glad you are here.
