Let's Get To Trampling!

He (Satan) was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. - John 8:44

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. - 1 Peter 5:8

I watched the movie “War Room” last weekend. It was amazing and I was so inspired. I had plans to make a war room (a prayer room, a place to "war" against our enemy) of my own right away.

And then I didn’t do it. It was on my “to do” list, but I kept pushing it to the bottom.

Until now.

I have felt so attacked by the enemy in the past two days, I can’t even tell you. I have let him make me feel insecure, fearful, and alone. It has been relentless and oppressive. I have felt God nudging me and saying, “Tammy, you need to make your war room. You need it for what is ahead. Prayer is key and must be specific and intentional, focused and spoken with the authority I have given you as my child.”

I am so fed up with our enemy and his lies. Well, no more. I’m so over it.

I just started reading the book, “FerVent” by Priscilla Shirer and I love it. This book was inspired by the movie, “War Room,” which the author also starred in. If you want a "go to" book on how to pray, this is it. No, I'm not saying it should replace the Bible. The Bible is always the first source you should use. I'm saying this is a great source for women. It lists the top ten areas women feel most attacked by our enemy, and how you can specifically fight against these attacks.

Here is what Priscilla says about Satan:

Let’s be clear, no matter which way you gravitate, Satan is not God. And he is not God’s counterpart or peer. They’re not even on the same playing field. His influence, authority, and power don’t even touch the fringe of what our Lord is capable of doing. Satan is nothing but a copycat, trying desperately to convince you he’s more powerful that he actually is. He can’t be everywhere at once (only God is omnipresent). He can’t read your mind (only God is omniscient). He is merely an illusionist, using cunning trickery to deceive and mislead (only God can work flat-out, unmistakable miracles). And last, but certainly not least… He’s running out of time (our God is eternal). (1)

There are specific and strategic strategies Satan uses to attack us. He goes straight for our weaknesses and he studies us, looking for areas he knows he can make us feel defeated in.

So shouldn’t our prayers against him be specific and strategic too? Shouldn’t we give some thought to the way we are choosing to fight? Shouldn’t we have a plan of attack? Of course we should!

Praying with God’s Word is our ultimate weapon, I believe. It is our sword against the enemies attacks (Ephesians 6:17). We must have our armor on, every day. All day.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. - Ephesians 6:18

And so I made my war room today. My closet just got cut in half, and I am so excited about it. I praying God will fan the fire in my heart until I have such a passion for prayer that no one could ever stop me from doing it.

Lord, we praise you! We beg, don’t let us forget! Lord, teach me, teach us, to write our prayers down so we have a record, so we can show our children and grandchildren how faithful and trustworthy you are. Teach us to post them on our walls in our own war rooms. And remind us to write down the answers you give us, so we NEVER forget. Amen.

Will you join me? Ladies, we need an army. In this crazy world that keeps getting even crazier, we need prayer and we need the release of God’s power more than ever before. Here is my first paper I hung on my war room wall:

As a daughter of the King of Everything, we have the authority to trample down our enemies. May we have the courage to step into our God-given role! What are we waiting for? Let’s get to trampling!!

If you are an imperfect wife, mom, daughter, or friend, struggling to stay focused on God in the craziness and find joy in the heartache, then we have something in common. I am a recovering perfectionist and daughter of the King, slowly learning to fully trust the One who sees me just as I am, and is already pleased. I’m so glad you are here.
