Fierce Love

“Behind every irrational fear is a lie that must be identified.” – Neil T. Anderson

My son is believing the lie that God doesn’t love him. He has so many fears and such intense anxiety right now.

And to be honest, I have a lot of fear and anxiety right now too. I struggle with fear of the future, fear for our family, and fear for my son. What is going to happen? Why is this happening? And yet God has chosen to be gracious to me yet again…I ran across a powerful song while my husband and I were on a get-a-way retreat this past weekend in southern Indiana. The message God was speaking to my heart was clear; “I love you, Tammy. And I love Ethan. I’m pursuing you both. Even when you feel lost, you are not lost; I’m here with you. Trust me, and trust my timing.”

Oh, how quickly I forget the depth of God’s love (and sovereignty) for me when troubles press in…especially when we see no end in sight.

I love the words to this song that speak about God’s love for us:

Like a tidal wave
Crashing over me
Rushing in to meet me here
Your love is fierce
Like a hurricane
That I can’t escape
Tearing through the atmosphere
Your love is fierce

You cannot fail
The only thing I’ve found
Is through it all
You never let me down
You don’t hold back
Relentless in pursuit
At every turn
I come face to face with you

You surround me
You chase me down
You seek me out
How can I be lost
When you have called me found (1)

He loves me with a fierce kind of love. He loves my son with a fierce kind of love. He is fighting for us. And this is the truth I stand on for another day. And it is enough.

His love is more than enough.

I know someone else needed to hear that today. I’m praying for you.

Jesus, your love for us is fierce and I’m so grateful for that. All we need to do is look at the cross to see the depth of your love. Thank you for loving us enough to send reminders of your fierce love when we desperately need them. Amen.

If you are an imperfect wife, mom, daughter, or friend, struggling to stay focused on God in the craziness and find joy in the heartache, then we have something in common. I am a recovering perfectionist and daughter of the King, slowly learning to fully trust the One who sees me just as I am, and is already pleased. I’m so glad you are here.
